SHIPLEY, UK – The beloved Wrose Carnival is set to unleash a wave of excitement and community spirit as it returns bigger and better than ever. On the cusp of its most colossal event yet, the carnival invites all to join in the revelry along Wrose Road on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by an unforgettable day filled with entertainment at Wrose Recreation Ground until 5:00 p.m.
“This isn’t just another event; it’s a tapestry woven from threads of community, nostalgia, and shared joy,” said Sarah Glendenning-Laycock, Event Manager and Committee Chair of Wrose Carnival. “When people gather to create moments that transcend financial boundaries—the magic happens.”
This year’s carnival promises an extraordinary lineup guaranteed to captivate attendees. A grand main stage orchestrated by SORM (School of Rock and Media) will host a variety of performances featuring local dance troupes, sports clubs, and theatrical acts—all showcasing their dazzling talents. Adding star power is Ta’hoots Bar presented by none other than your favorite Emmerdale celebrity.
Carnival-goers can immerse themselves in heart-pounding rides provided by Swifts Fun Fairs or marvel at gleaming automobiles during the car show extravaganza. For dog lovers big and small, Hair and Hounds Dog Grooming presents an adorably competitive dog show that’s sure to delight every pet enthusiast present.
“Our society thrives when we uplift each other through meaningful experiences,” said Glendenning-Laycock. “The essence lies not in grandeur but in togetherness—where laughter echoes across fields once empty.”
This year, the carnival is also proud to support Andy’s Man Club, a charity focused on men’s mental health, with an exciting fundraising raffle offering over £500 worth of vouchers and prizes up for grabs.
What makes Wrose Carnival truly special is that it’s powered entirely by a small, dedicated volunteer committee — just six local people who give their time, energy, and passion to bring this event to life. With no major production team or commercial backing, the carnival remains a grassroots celebration of community, joy, and belonging.
Thanks to the incredible volunteers stepping up to help on the day, the event remains free to attend, welcoming everyone regardless of background. Their generosity and dedication are the reason this long-standing tradition not only continues but thrives — year after year — as a cherished celebration in the heart of Wrose.
